For the sixth consecutive year, the New England Anime Society will be hosting a day's worth of Japanese animation screenings as part of First Night Boston, Boston's annual New Year's Eve celebration. The First Night celebration serves as a showcase for Boston's cultural and artistic communities through over 250 exhibitions and performances by both local and internationally recognized artists. First Night attracts a total audience of more than 1.5 million people annually. The unique concept that originated in Boston 30 years ago has served as a model for more than 200 similar celebrations worldwide. First Night has truly become a cherished Boston tradition.

Anime Boston 2003 was New England's largest anime convention, the largest first-year anime convention ever held, and the 7th largest anime convention in North America. The first Anime Boston made history by reuniting the English voices of the Gundam Wing pilots (Mark Hildreth, Scott McNeil, Kirby Morrow, Brad Swaile, and Ted Cole) for the first time. Other guests included Tiffany Grant, Jamie McGonnigal, Kristen Nelson, Mark C. MacKinnon of Guardians Of Order, Chris Beveridge of AnimeOnDVD.com, cosplayer Tristen Citrine, and newsletter editor Lorraine Savage. Among the events held at Anime Boston 2003 were the first regional competition of the Big Apple Anime Fest Anime Idol Voice Acting Contest, one of the largest masquerade competitions on the east coast, an anime music video contest, game shows, video game tournaments, many gaming events, as well as industry panels, video premieres, and a whole lot more.

Anime Boston 2005 moved the convention to a new home in the spacious Hynes Convention Center and Sheraton Boston Hotel. After packing people in for our first two years, we finally had some elbow room for our third! New England's largest anime convention went all out with the largest main events room of any anime convention in North America!

Anime Boston 2006 marked the first (and only) time that monster wrestlers Kaiju Big Battel ever performed live at an anime convention. Now only was the convention's fourth year a huge success for The New England Anime Society, but it was a success for the Central New England Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as over $10,000 was raised at Anime Boston's annual charity auction.

Anime Boston 2007 marked the fifth year of the largest Japanese animation convention in the northeast. This was the first year to feature four guests of honor from Japan as well as the first year for a popular formal ball. Additionally, the convention moved up in the world, literally, as it occupied the entire top two floors of the Hynes Convention Center.

Anime Boston 2008 is the 6th year of the northeast's largest Japanese animation convention. Once again, Anime Boston will be presenting anime screenings, guest and industry panel presentations, costume and music video competitions, game shows, karaoke, video games, a well-stocked manga library, and much more. It's the event that Newtype USA declared as "one of the biggest and best conventions" (Aug 2006).
